Sign of the Impending Apocalypse

On the other hand, Coop got the cork out in one piece. He's good like that. And you know, that corkscrew had opened more wine than I will admit to drinking. PLUS, if a corkscrew has to choose a way to die, I'm sure it would choose to go out in just this way, don't you?

Okay, okay, disregard the title of this post and let's all raise a toast to a long life of service...

(Dang. How am I going to open this bottle?)

I once gave my hubby an OXO brand bottle opener for a birthday gist. He LOVED it, still does, it's lasted years and feels nicely balanced in your hand. A friend accused me of being un-romantic, but I see no better gift than something that helps my hubby open the thing in life he lives just slightly after his son (and me)...so yes, I understand the title. But just think, now you get to go choose a new one!!!

Too funny - I broke my friends wine opener that looks just like that while trying to open a bottle a few weeks ago. I was not so lucky in getting the cork out, so we pushed it into the bottle, which turned out to be a terrible mistake as it cause wine to spurt out of the bottle no limited to but also including the cabinets and the ceiling. We drank it anyway.

Tragedy!

I have a few spares stashed away (one in the camping gear, one in the car).

Metal fatigue is an ugly, ugly thing.

Um. Box of wine? Screw top? I'm thinking not. Maybe another corkscrew can take its place. I'm not saying immediately, and I'm not saying it'll be as special to you. But I'm just sayin'.

Actually, this just makes me want to come live at your house. Clearly a house where they wear out the corkscrew is a fun place to be!
