It's Official

Puberty is all around me.

Even the puppy's voice has changed.

(Youtube clip embedded here, for those of you who get the blog via e-mail.)

He's entered a very destructive phase:

He doesn't want to stay outside:

He just bedevils the heck out of his siblings:

And his parents:

and has to be the center of attention at all times:

And there's lots of eye-rolling and moodiness...oh, wait, that's not all HIM.

Dang, are all of these rites of passage necessary?

Good thing he's so cute.

It is a good thing he's cute - that way you can refrain from strangling him while he eats your house...

don't worry, it's just a phase (this is what my mother always said about us kids, too).

I've just finished catching up on all you've been up to - it sounds like you've been having a particularly trying time lately. I'm sorry I missed the chance to tell you how very much I enjoy your blog. You are a very special person, and can make me smile, even when I can't think of anything to smile about by myself.

I hope things look up for you soon.

Oh, Lordy. We had a dog who ate, ATE, the corner off a concrete step!
Good luck with the destructive stage....

Ahh ... the second teething :)

(Sorry about the house.)

He's supposed to be cute; that's his job. At least until he can catch his own squirrels and feed himself.

Awww. . . his big-boy bark! I actually prefer that to that annoying puppy yip-yip-yip! Mine howls at fire engines, too. Not police cars or ambulances, just the fire trucks.

And hey, your woodwork looks just like mine!

I can assure you that this is not a phase. It will last his whole life. Thought you might like to know that. My 12 year old still chews and causes trouble.

Oh my gosh -- I'm not sure he's cute ENUF. We had a basset hound that ate everything -- FOREVER. You have my whole-hearted "Best Wishes!"

I had a little fellow like that and a corner in my kitchen woodwork just like that. Then he ate the floor. After a year he switched to food, but still was a frightful eater of inappropriate foodlike things. He was so adorable that I loved him anyway.
I have been considering getting a new puppy, but this is giving me pause.

Ah, yes. Puppy adolescence. Been there, done that. Two of my shelties were wall eaters. They'd start by licking the wall until the gyprock got all nice and soft and then continue to take big chunks out of it. We went through a lot of poly-filla.

Oh those poor baseboards! I started to think "how can she put up with that" then I remembered our (old) dog is now peeing on my best carpet almost everyday...you are right, good thing they are cute.

Uh oh. Before you know it, he'll be asking for the keys to the car.

I love your dog. And as a crazy cat lady, that's saying something!
