Joy RUSH!!!

I KNOW that this is the way gardening is supposed to work. I'm SUPPOSED to plant my tomatoes and water them and feed them and at some point, they're supposed to produce fruit.

But it just...

I can't really express...

Well.

Here's the thing:

To me, each time the process works, I feel like I have personally received some sort of reassurance from the cosmos that life is chugging along the way it always has and, just maybe, always will. That despite all we've done to foul everything up on this planet and the horrible news stories and the war and waterboarding, in my tiny sliver of the world, all that is hopeful and miraculous and lovely is contained within this tiny green tomato.

I realize that's a lot of weight to put on this one fragile little thing but there are days when exactly this kind of reassurance is called for.

Happy Memorial Day.

Ah, see? You are so much more selfless than I. When *I* see something like that, or a flower, I think, "LOOKIE WHAT I DID!!!" Cuz it's all about me, in my world, I guess.

I know the rush! I love my little fruits and veggies. I am almost reverent when eating them.

You are so fortunate to already have a fruit! Our lettuce, radishes, carrots, beans, and potatoes are just starting to push up. The tomatoes are a long way off... Thanks for sharing that we have hope in the future!

Just promise me that, when you eat that first, juicy, sun-warmed tomato, you will honour its perfection by using real mayo?

(You make me miss having a garden!)
A nice slab of mozzarella works, too, drizzled with olive oil and with a sliver of purple onion and chopped basil. On a deserving piece of white bread, of course. Enjoy the rush and may the new puppy aid Scout in keeping the bunnies out of your garden.

Ah, a rush indeed! You are awesome!

I am still having blog problems and can't post about the beauty of my garden and it's breaking my heart.

Thanks for sharing your garden with me, it made my day! :)

I love that you have a subject tag for tomatoes. I truly love that.

We're still waiting for the danger of frost to pass here - with daytime temperatures this week in the 40's, I still can't plant! Like you, though, it thrills me when it happens.
