This Never Gets Old

We have a new puppy. (Maybe I've mentioned him?) I have been spending as much time with him as I possibly can, and since the weather has been good (mostly) we've been spending a lot of time outside. I have a farmer's tan and I'm covered with bites from some tiny insect that I can't ever seem to catch in the act of biting me. (Anyone know what these are? Because I'd like to add it to my list of things to ask God about after I die, along with acne, war, mosquitoes and the whole Middle East thing.)

Anyway, the entertainment is pretty fabulous in my backyard. We have the ongoing squirrel and bird activity, we have the garden and planting all new stuff according to my friend Donna's advice so I'll be so surprised next year when, assuming I haven't ripped it all out thinking it's weeds, it bursts into bloom.

And then we have this:

It's pretty much like cable television--on 24/7. And for some reason, I just think it's the funniest thing ever.

I don't know how you get anything done. I'd be spending my whole day playing with the puppy. I LURVS puppies.

They are probably no-seeums.
Not sure of the spelling, but ouch!

Those would probably be chiggers.

LOVE the puppy.

I love the idea of that list! I'll have to start thinking about what else might be on my list...

If nothing else, Austin seems to be great therapy for Scout! (And really, Austin is adorable.)

Oh, you're making me want a puppy, now!

What I was going to say is what Rhonda said--this seems to really be good for Scout, too!
I read this in the paper today and thought of you.

I agree with knittergran - those damn 'no-seeums' are just awful!

Love the puppy pictures. Scout's getting younger by the day, I bet!

New friends are wonderful! Even for dogs!

That sure is entertaining! Reminds me of listening to the Incredible Journey, read by Megan Follows, where there's a lot of interaction between a young dog and old one.

No-see-ums. They suck. Somebody (J Crew, maybe?) just came out with insect repellent clothing. I wonder if it works on them, too, or just the skeeters. And, I had my first encounter with chiggers last year...those also suck, but I find they tend to be sort of welty and confined to below the knee. Clear nail polish works well for cutting off the air and taking the itch out of those bites.

I totally love that Austin gets Scout pinned once in a while. It's probably a brainpower/cleverness mismatch with a bit of kindness on Scout's part (letting the kid win, you know?), but it's adorable.
